The sixth generation of the BMW luxury sedan has been unveiled and is slated to be launched in the early part of 2018. This upgrade features most of the groundbreaking technologies and mechanism in its segment and will be a very hard nut to crack for its competitors.
The new generation of the BMW M5 will come with switchable drive modes, which includes an all wheel drive as well as a rear wheel drive mechanism. Moreover, the engine performance can be changed with various mode selection. Once the default Efficient mode is switched to Sport or SportPlus, the response of the turbo motors get a notch higher and noticeable. While on the Sport mode, the throttle response kicks off and ensures power like never before.
This 2018 BMW M5 is powered by a big 4.4-litre V8 engine that is also given the TwinPower Turbo. The engine is highly torque-friendly and delivers up to a huge 750 Nm torque along with 600 bhp of maximum power. As for the transmission, there is an 8-speed Steptronic transmission that assists quicker gearshifts.
While on the all wheel drive mode, the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) is switched on. However, you can even choose the track-friendly rear wheel drive without the DSC as driving dynamics. On full throttle, the M5 can hit an acceleration of 0-100kms per hour in just 3.4 seconds, which makes it the fastest M5 ever.
The latest generation of the BMW M5 has seen a weight reduction of 25 kgs over the previous generation, thanks to the carbon fibre roof, lightweight exhaust system and the aluminium bonnet. However, this luxury saloon has increased in its dimensions by 55 mm, 12 mm and 16 mm respectively in length, width and height.
New BMW M5 will go on sale in the UK in February next year. However, the company has not revealed any details about the India launch.
